clan flash hangs in grub-install #1865

On my laptop clan flash hangs inside the grub install. dmesg shows that this could be because the /boot partition (/dev/sda2) hasn't been properly unmounted.
My kernel version is Linux qubasa-desktop 6.6.44 #1-NixOS SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sat Aug 3 06:54:42 UTC 2024 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I also tested a brand new usb stick and all 3 USB ports on my laptop I get the same issue.
Additionally I tested just downloading the prebuild image and flashing it over gnome disks and that worked flawlessly.
